Kenyan long-distance runner Eliud Kipchoge made history on Sunday when he completed his first-ever marathon on African soil at the 2026 Cape Town Marathon, crossing the finish line in 16th place.

The two-time Olympic champion completed his first marathon in more than six months and achieved a time of 2:13:29.

Kipchoge competed in one of the strongest fields ever assembled for an African marathon.

In the end it was the Ethiopian Mohamed Esa who triumphed with 2:04:55, breaking Ethiopian Abdisa Tola’s previous course record of 2:08:16

Esa’s compatriot Yihunilign Adane secured second place with a time of 2:04:59, while Kenyan Kalipus Lomwai secured third place with a time of 02:05:06.

41-year-old marathon icon Kipchoge is committed to running a series of seven marathons on all continents over the next two years, primarily to inspire people to live healthier lives and unite people through the running community.

“Cape Town, it was a special day,” said Kipchoge after crossing the finish line.

“Today was a celebration of running on this beautiful route, supported by thousands of incredible fans singing and playing music along the route and fellow runners taking part in the same race.

They all made our first stop on the tour an experience we will never forget. I’m proud to start our world tour in Africa and run my first ever marathon on home soil. It was the perfect start.”

Kipchoge completing his first marathon on home African soil is just another notable achievement in a career that has already included becoming the first man to run a marathon in under two hours.

He is one of only three men to have won two Olympic gold medals. He broke the marathon record twice. He also holds the most major marathon victories and the most Berlin Marathon victories.

Kipchoge’s result in Cape Town was better than his 17th-place finish in his last marathon appearance, at the New York City Marathon on November 2, 2025, where he crossed the finish line in 02:14:36.

The next stop on Kipchoge’s world tour is South America: the Porto Alegre Marathon in Brazil on July 12th.

The tour then continues to Oceania, where he will take part in the Melbourne Marathon in Australia on October 11th.

Its subsequent stops, scheduled in North America, Asia, Europe and Antarctica and in that order, have yet to be confirmed.

PakarPBN

A Private Blog Network (PBN) is a collection of websites that are controlled by a single individual or organization and used primarily to build backlinks to a “money site” in order to influence its ranking in search engines such as Google. The core idea behind a PBN is based on the importance of backlinks in Google’s ranking algorithm. Since Google views backlinks as signals of authority and trust, some website owners attempt to artificially create these signals through a controlled network of sites.

In a typical PBN setup, the owner acquires expired or aged domains that already have existing authority, backlinks, and history. These domains are rebuilt with new content and hosted separately, often using different IP addresses, hosting providers, themes, and ownership details to make them appear unrelated. Within the content published on these sites, links are strategically placed that point to the main website the owner wants to rank higher. By doing this, the owner attempts to pass link equity (also known as “link juice”) from the PBN sites to the target website.

The purpose of a PBN is to give the impression that the target website is naturally earning links from multiple independent sources. If done effectively, this can temporarily improve keyword rankings, increase organic visibility, and drive more traffic from search results.
