Discussions between Arsenal and RB Leipzig regarding the transfer of Ethan Nwaneri are at an “advanced stage”, according to journalist Carlo Pellegatti.
Speaking on his YouTube channel (quotes translated by Sport Witness), Pellegatti provided an overview of the current state of negotiations:
“What’s the situation now? Arsenal has yet to decide whether to send him to another team or how to manage the player’s future. ”
“But Arsenal would like to, and are already talking about it – talks have taken place and are at an advanced stage – with Leipzig.”

Pellegatti also said that the Gunners would like a clause that means they could “buy him back for €55m-€60m (£47m-£51m).”
That correlates with what another journalist, Matteo Moretto, reported last week, when he revealed that Leipzig, AC Milan, Everton and Fulham were all pursuing Nwaneri’s signature.
A buyback does seem to be a very sensible decision, considering that the teenager still has plenty of time to develop. If he does prove himself at another team, the Gunners still have the safety net where they can re-sign him for a specific price.

Nwaneri won’t play much if he stays
While some fans will be lamenting the departure of another Hale End graduate, his pathway at the Emirates has effectively been blocked by other players.
Captain Martin Odegaard remains an important member of the squad, while Max Dowman is an extremely promising talent who could potentially surpass Nwaneri in terms of his potential.
However, the decision to sign Eberechi Eze from Crystal Palace last summer is seen as the biggest reason why Nwaneri has pushed for an exit.
Eze arrived at the club within weeks of the youngster signing a new five-year contract last August, and he hasn’t really had a look in since then.
