Congratulations to the talented alumni who worked on Oscar-nominated films

We are pleased that 10 alumni have worked on nine different productions that have received 30 Oscar nominations! This includes 4 of the best image nominations: a complete unknown, Dune: Part 2, Nickel Boys and Wicked.

We could not be proud of our alumni who have contributed to the productions that were nominated for the Oscar ceremony! Ten alumni was attributed to nine remarkable films, which together 30 Oscar nominations in films such as “Wicked”, “Dune: Part Two”, “A Complete unknown”, “Nickel Boys”, “Inside Out”, “Alien: Romulus , “Better Mann”, “Kingdom of the Planet of the Affen” and “The Six Triple eight”.

The 97th Academy Awards will be broadcast live on ABC and Hulu on Sunday, March 2, 2025. Congratulations to all alumni of the La Film School who contributed to Oscar-nominated productions!

Evil

Mikaela Padilla (Audio Production 2022) is attributed to Wicked as a foley mixer, which brought in 10 nominations, including the best picture, the best sound and the best processing. Mikaela also worked on Mufasa: The Lion King and Sonic The Hedgehog 3 this year.

Bob Dylan Biopic a complete stranger

Alec Nickel (Film 2014) served as the second assistant of the Bob Dylan Biopic a Camera, which brought in 8 nominations, including “Best Picture”, “Best Director” and “Best Sound”. This year Alec also worked on Baby Girl, Wolfs and Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire.

Dune part two

Dominic Koletes (Film 2004) and Jason Beale (Film 2002) both served as executives for the film after production, which is nominated for five prizes, including “Best Picture”, “Best Cinematography” and “Best Visual Effects”.

Nickel boy

Devin Stovall (recording art 2019) was a stunt performer at Nickel Boys, which is nominated for “Best Picture” and “Best Adapted Screenplay”. He is also attributed to Red One and Bad Boys: driving or dying.

Inside out 2

Danielle Adams (Recording Arts 2015) served as an additional new recording mixer at Inside Out 2, which is nominated for “best animation feature film”. Other important titles that she worked on this year are Deadpool & Wolverine and here.

Alien: Romulus

Derek Thomason (Film 2011) was a production assistant for Alien: Romulus, who is nominated for “best visual effects”. In recent years he has also worked in the same role at Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F, Spider-Man: Homecoming and Deadpool: Not a good deed.

Better man

Maurice VY (Film 2009) served as a video assist operator at Better Man, which is nominated for “best visual effects”. Before that, he worked for the Hong Kong films such as Geostorm and Ghost in the Shell.

Kingdom of the planet of the monkey

Nathan Runyan (Film 2022) served as VFX / Mocap coordinator on the Kingdom of the planet of the monkey, which is nominated for “best visual effects”. Nathan later has several large credits this year, including Mission Impossible – the final billing and a Minecraft film.

The six triple eight

Eugene Coty (Film 2004) worked as a doctor at the Six Triple Eight, which received a nomination for “Best Original Song”. In addition to his work as an EMT / paramedic, he also worked as a cameraman and director of photography in many productions.
