Arsenal have reportedly made “significant” progress in agreeing personal terms with Aston Villa striker Morgan Rogers.
TEAM talk claim that the Gunners held discussions with the England international’s representatives before making a formal offer for the player and that they are now “increasingly confident” that the move will go through.
Once the Premier League champions have reached a full agreement with Rogers, it is understood he will make a formal offer.
It is of course unlikely that Villa will let the 23-year-old leave without a fight, and there is a distinct possibility that Mikel Arteta’s side will have to break their transfer record.
How much will it cost to sign Rogers?
It has been suggested that Villa will be looking for a British record transfer fee, currently at £130 million.
There is a chance they could lower their demands slightly, but Arsenal would still have to pay more than the £105m they spent on Declan Rice three years ago, which is the most they have ever paid for a player.

Chelsea, Manchester City, Manchester United and Liverpool are also believed to have considered a move Rogersbut he has apparently prioritized a transfer to the Emirates.
That should help the Gunners in negotiations as Villa have no chance of sparking a bidding war as the player appears to be eyeing a move to north London.
Of course, the Midlands club won’t let Rogers go without a fight. He signed a new five-and-a-half year contract in November last year, so they are in a pretty strong negotiating position.
An offer is unlikely to be tabled before the striker returns from the World Cup with England and even then it looks like talks could drag on.
