  • The SportPesa blog takes a look at how quickly Gor Mahia can win the title and AFC Leopards’ chances of a late triumph.
  • There are nine points between the two teams, with Gor Mahia at the top with 64 points and Ingwe second with 55 points.

Record champions Gor Mahia opened up a nine-point lead in the SportPesa League title race (25/26) at the weekend after claiming a late 1-0 win over Kakamega Homeboyz at the Mumias Sports Complex.

In a game where Homeboyz almost saw the visitors lose two crucial points, they came under pressure and it was one of their own who scored the bizarre solo goal.

In the 94th minute, when Peter Thiong’o tried to clear a cross from Ebenezer Assifuah under pressure from Shariff Musa, he hammered the ball he wanted to parry over the crossbar for a corner and landed straight into his own goal.

The race for the SportPesa League title is a two-pronged affair and both rivals are in hot pursuit. But how soon can Gor Mahia’s 22nd title come?

Or how can AFC Leopards finally open their dusty cabinet to lift this trophy for the first time in over two decades?

Sportpesa Blog takes a look at all the available variants and how the league could be decided sooner or later.

SportPesa League 25/26 title combinations: How quickly can Gor Mahia win the title and do AFC Leopards still have a chance?

How quickly can Gor Mahia win the title?

With a lead of nine points, Gor Mahia have four games left, equivalent to 12 points, while Ingwe still have one game in hand as they did not feature in the 30th round against Ulinzi Stars who were busy with FKF Cup duties.

As it stands, K’Ogalo only need two of the four wins to be crowned champions, which would give them 70 points before facing Mara Sugar in their penultimate game.

If AFC Leopards win all their remaining five games, they will reach 70 points, which Gor might have already achieved if they beat Kenya Police FC and Murang’a SEAL in their next two games.

Gor Mahia faces Kakamega Homeboyz

Therefore, the trophy could comfortably be placed in one hand of Gor as they definitely have a better goal difference with 27 than Ingwe with 14 goals.

Ahead of the penultimate game on May 23, even a single point could be enough to secure the title before a possible crowning moment in the final game against Nairobi United.

Essentially, two wins and a draw could be all Charles Akonnor’s side needs to reclaim the title lost to Kenya Police FC last season.

Are there any chances for AFC Leopards to win the title?

Yes, there are opportunities for Ingwe.

But the Mashemeji derby hit them hard and has become a haunting memory. They will need prayers and maximum effort in their last five games; Otherwise, that basket could continue to fetch water without catching anything.

To win the title, AFC Leopards mathematically need to win all five remaining games to reach 70 points.

With this in mind, they will hope that their rivals Gor Mahia lose points or are defeated in two of their games.

If Gor wins two of their remaining games, both teams could finish level on points, but the Leopards would still need to overcome a significant goal difference deficit, which would require a significant goal-scoring rate in those games.

The other scenario: Gor Mahia lose two games and draw the rest and end up on 66 points, while AFC Leopards win at least four of their games (even if they lose one) and finish with 67 points, with tests against Ulinzi Stars, Mara Sugar, Kakamega Homeboyz, APS Bomet and Bidco United awaiting them.

However, if Gor managed two wins and even a single draw, the title would likely be out of reach. For the Leopards to have a realistic chance, Gor would need to lose three games or consistently drop points while Ingwe maintains a clean run.

AFC Leopards vs Gor Mahia form and statistics

In terms of form, Gor Mahia have only lost four games this season to their opponents’ six, with both teams suffering two defeats in a row.

For Ingwe, this recently came with defeats against Kenya Police FC and Gor, while K’Ogalo’s came with consecutive defeats at the hands of APS Bomet and also Ingwe.

In terms of scoring chances, Ingwe has averaged one goal per game, found the net 36 times and conceded 22 goals, compared to Gor Mahia who averaged over 1.5 goals per game and conceded 19 goals. So K’Ogalo’s goal difference is 27, better than Ingwe’s 14.

Gor won 19 games, saved seven games and lost four, while Ingwe won 16 games, saved seven games and lost six.

Judging by their current form, the goal difference clearly favors Gor Mahia to win the title, compared to AFC Leopards, who now have to aim for wins and hopes.

Have they won five games in a row this season? No. But they picked up four successful wins earlier this year (against Nairobi United, APS Bomet, Tusker and Sofapaka) so it’s possible they can keep the fire burning.

Therefore, they could still dream of a 13Th Win the title and hope Gor Mahia loses points as discussed.

PakarPBN

A Private Blog Network (PBN) is a collection of websites that are controlled by a single individual or organization and used primarily to build backlinks to a “money site” in order to influence its ranking in search engines such as Google. The core idea behind a PBN is based on the importance of backlinks in Google’s ranking algorithm. Since Google views backlinks as signals of authority and trust, some website owners attempt to artificially create these signals through a controlled network of sites.

In a typical PBN setup, the owner acquires expired or aged domains that already have existing authority, backlinks, and history. These domains are rebuilt with new content and hosted separately, often using different IP addresses, hosting providers, themes, and ownership details to make them appear unrelated. Within the content published on these sites, links are strategically placed that point to the main website the owner wants to rank higher. By doing this, the owner attempts to pass link equity (also known as “link juice”) from the PBN sites to the target website.

The purpose of a PBN is to give the impression that the target website is naturally earning links from multiple independent sources. If done effectively, this can temporarily improve keyword rankings, increase organic visibility, and drive more traffic from search results.
