The action continued with three games each on Saturday and Sunday at different venues.
Four teams were excluded from the weekend’s games.
Kenya Police FC was on continental duty and represented the country in the CAF Champions League.
However, their journey ended in the second preliminary round, where they were eliminated on aggregate against Al Hilal Omdurman.
Therefore, their league game against Sofapaka was postponed to a later date.
Another team not included in the fifth round was Nairobi United, who also took part in the second preliminary round of the CAF Confederation Cup.
The NaiBois made history on Sunday by eliminating Tunisian Giants Etoile Sportive Du Sahel on penalties to qualify for the group stage for the first time.
Their scheduled match against Bandari FC was also postponed.
In terms of on-field drama, Saturday was all about AFC Leopards and APS Bomet, each securing their first wins of the season.
On Sunday, Gor Mahia claimed their third straight win, Tusker picked up their first three points and Shabana pulled off a surprise at the Gusii Stadium. These are the key talking points of the electrifying fifth round.
The SportPesa blog highlights the most important stories from the fifth round of the SportPesa League.
Shabana FC suffers two consecutive home defeats, extending their winning streak
Dominant Shabana FC suffered a disappointing 1-0 defeat against Mathare United at the Gusii Stadium on Sunday. Their former player, Dennis Okoth, punished his old club with a rare first-half goal.
This defeat is their second home defeat in a row, having lost 2-1 to Posta Rangers at the same venue. This extends their winning streak to three games, following a 1-1 draw against Tusker FC.

These results have seen the Kisii-based club, which started the season well with back-to-back wins and a place at the top of the table, fall to fourth place with seven points.
It is clear that Peter Okidi’s side are feeling the effects of serious injuries that have plagued the team recently, with several key players sidelined.

They created chances against Mathare, but lacked penetration in the final third.
This problem is compounded by the absence of creative attacker Brian Michira, who will be out for the next six weeks with a groin injury.
Okidi tries to bring in new signing Bronson Nsubuga to fill the gap, but the player is still finding his rhythm.
Others, such as Gilbert Abala and Brian Olega, are also in a transition phase at the club.
The sooner the chemistry develops between them, the better, as the team prepares to face the unbeaten AFC Leopards – a game where a win would be an important milestone on the way back to winning ways.
Finally: The AFC Leopards secure their first win of the season
On Saturday, Ingwe hosted KCB for their fourth game at the Ulinzi Sports Complex.
After three opening draws in a row, it was the Bankers who gave them their first win of the season with a 2-1 win.
AFC Leopards took control from the start and Boniface Kweyu Munyendo scored just 60 seconds into the game.

KCB’s Francis took advantage of defensive errors to level the score but Christopher Koloti managed to restore Ingwe’s lead and secured three crucial points.
These points not only lifted the 12-time champions to eighth place with six points, but also eased the enormous pressure from their loyal fans who were desperately hoping for a win.

Nonetheless, Ingwe still needs to work on their defensive coordination, connection in midfield and sharpness in the final third as they prepare for a midweek game against Shabana at the Gusii Stadium.
APS Bomet secures their first win in the SportPesa League
League newcomers APS Bomet came from behind to claim a historic first win in the SportPesa League, defeating Kariobangi Sharks 2-1 at the Kasarani Annex on Saturday.
The Lawmen were under immense pressure and desperate for a win after losing three straight games to end up at the bottom of the table. Sharks were the first to break the deadlock through Markvivan Kesa.
In the second half, coach Wafula’s several tactical changes paid off as his team began to dominate.

Two late goals from Duncan Mogasa and Philip Wasai secured them a comeback and secured their first win in the top flight.

Despite the three points, APS Bomet remains at the bottom of the table as other results did not go in their favour.
However, the win provides vital momentum as they host Kakamega Homeboyz at the Green Stadium Kericho on Wednesday, October 29. Another win would significantly boost morale in their debut season.
Gor Mahia won their third game in a row under Charles Akonnor
After a 3-0 win against Posta Rangers on Sunday at the Nyayo Stadium, the Kenyan record champions are moving closer to the top of the table.
They are now just one point behind the leaders as Kakamega Homeboyz and Posta Rangers are in first and second place with 10 points each, while Gor are third with nine points.

On Sunday, they paid tribute to their late patron, Honorable Raila Odinga, with a victory sealed by goals from Ben Stanley Omondi, Austin Odhiambo and Felix Oluoch Mboya, despite a slow first half in which they missed several chances.

The 21-time top flight champions have visibly improved their efficiency in the final third, a crucial element that was missing last season.
After missing two consecutive penalties and enduring a goal drought, Odhiambo finally scored.
Ben Stanley Omondi also scored his first goal of the season while Felix Oluoch punished his former employers with his second goal of the season with Gor.

Their goals not only secured three crucial points, but also ended Posta Rangers’ four-game unbeaten run.
Gor will now look to fine-tune a few details before facing Mathare United in a midweek game on Thursday with the chance of going top of the table if other results go their way as they move towards reclaiming the title.
Tusker FC gets their first win of the season
The 12-time champions finally secured their first three points in the SportPesa League after going four games without a win.
The Charles Okere-led side visited Murang’a SEAL at the SportPesa Arena on Sunday and narrowly escaped with a 1-0 win.
Erick Kapaito scored his second goal of the season since returning to the Brewers, easing the pressure after a series of two draws and two losses.
By adding these three points to the previous two, Tusker moved from the bottom of the table to 13th placeTh place with five points and at the same time handed Murang’a SEAL its third defeat in a row.
